Stripping the Oil Pump (5 Speed Only)

The oil pump is mounted in the bottom of the maincase and should be checked regularly for wear. This wear will be reduced if the gauze filter at the base of the pump is cleaned and the paper or stainless filter in the rear mounted housing is changed regularly.

1. To remove the pump undo the four mounting bolts in the side of the maincase. The pump can then be lifted upwards and taken out through the sideplate opening.

2. Remove the circlip and the pump driving gear from the assembly. Undo the four small allen screws in the pump body which will allow for removal of the front and rear cover, both the pump gears and the spacers.

3. Clean and check the gears and the housing for scoring and replace where necessary.

4. Re assemble in the reverse order making sure that the pump turns freely with the pump body bolts tight before re fitting the assembly to the maincase. Lubricate with oil before assembly.
